To call Games of Thrones, a successful TV drama series would be considered a gross understatement by many. HBO’s Emmys winning TV show has gripped the attention of many and surpassed what any TV drama might promise to offer. In a short time, the epic TV drama, Game of Thrones had conquered the entire globe in the process becoming the favorite social media banter.

But GOT season 6 posed an entirely different challenge; the TV series had gone ahead of George RR Martin’s unfinished book series. In fact, talk had been rife that season 6 had completely gone off the script. But the fears were soon dashed. The writers reverted to older stories such as the Siege of Riverrun, the election in the Iron Islands and the return of the Hound.
Any fanatic of Game of Thrones would tell you that the most pressing question in the minds of many coming into this season was: Is Jon Snow dead? Jon snow a much-loved character was dead and appeared done away with for good in episode one. But alive again in episode two thanks to Melisandre. You could argue, with the benefit of hindsight that there was no way a character of immense importance as Jon Snow would be killed. But those who have followed this gripping drama from the beginning wouldn’t be too surprised on account of what happened to Eddard Stark. Who would have thought?

What is more? Season six put forward a significant arch in the character of Jon Snow; he emerged as the main hero who took his chance by the scruff of the neck to vanquish evil. Jon Snow rallied the ragtag army of wildlings and other notable northern houses to retake Winterfell. He couldn’t get a more vicious, sadistic and diabolical foe than Ramsay Bolton; killed his father and fed his young, baby brother to dogs. But as expected, Ramsay Bolton didn’t go down without a fight. He had surrounded Jon Snow and his tiny army of wildlings but thanks to Littlefinger who came to their rescue on account of Sansa Stark.
Cersei Lannister always has something up her sleeve, and she did not disappoint. But not even the most avid Cersei’s fanatic would have seen it coming. Cersei took out all her enemies; the Tyrrels, the High Sparrow and his faith militants in one big blast. As a result, her son, Tommen took his life marking an end to his fledgling rule to an end. Consequently, Cersei ascended to Iron Throne in the most unexpected of outcomes.

Games of Thrones season 7 is shaping up to be a very mouth-watering show. The prospect of a powerful Daenerys with her sights firmly set on the King’s Landing taking on weakening Lannisters is quite something. In her company is Tyrion Lannister, whom she has named hand of the queen. He has bones to pick with his sister, Cersei and would. Without a doubt, love to see her go down. Season six had other compelling arcs especially of female characters such as Sansa Stark who took on a more prominent role in retaking Winterfell and Arya Stark who refused to be ‘no-one.’ Come on Game of Thrones season 7.
